2025 Full 7-Round NFL Mock Draft
Finally, It’s time for my favorite mock of year! After countless hours of research and trial runs, the draft is just about here which means I can take my stab at predicting the entire thing. Every year, I take a shot at a full 7 round mock with my goal being to predict the picks as correctly as possible.
Round 1
1. Tennessee Titans - QB Cam Ward Miami:
This pick is easy at this point, I doubt there's a single analyst in the country that truly believes The Titans could and/or would pass up on Ward here. This is a slam dunk pick for a franchise dying to solidify the QB spot and a head coach who's thrived at developing QBs earlier in his career. Tennessee enables Brian Callahan to lay his foundation for the future by bringing in Cam Ward as QB1.
2. Cleveland Browns - Edge Abdul Carter PSU:
When I get to this mock, I heavily scrutinize every pick and I feel like I've looked at this one from all directions trying to convince myself that Shedeur's the pick, but I just can't do it. Despite my own concerns with Shedeur, I feel like the right move for Cleveland would be moving on from Watson for good while he's forced out anyways with an Achilles injury but I don't think they're ready to do that. Not only are they trapped by the irresponsible contract they gifted Watson, but they've also made a move for Kenny Pickett while remaining heavily involved in the FA Quarterback market. I expect to see them add another veteran if they think Watson won't return in '25 and in either scenario grab a QB on day 2. A more developmental QB allows them to mitigate the locker room strain from Watson's almost certain continuance on the team and take things slow, which I can understand. The truth is, despite a lack of top tier QB talent, this class is actually very deep in the middle rounds. Milroe and Shough are names to watch a bit earlier on day two with 2 former buckeyes hanging around as fringe round 3 early round 4 options in Will Howard and Kyle McCord. In the meantime, Cleveland will settle for housing a potential pro bowl duo on the bookends in Carter and the surprisingly resigned Myles Garrett.
3. New York Giants - QB Shedeur Sanders Colorado:
I said it before and I'll say it again, this feels like the absolute floor for Shedeur whether I like it or not. Contrary to what I said with Cleveland, I think New York's heavy activity in the QB market can be ignored when it comes to this pick. First off, Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are hanging on by a thread in the big apple and can't afford to lose games while they wait for their long term QB1 to develop if he isn't ready for starting duty by week 1. Russell Wilson and/or Jameis Winston can fill that void in the meantime. Secondly, New York is picking 3rd so they're forced to operate as though they'll be waiting until later in the draft to secure a future QB and that's exactly how I view their moves. Luckily for Daboll and company, a potential QB savior falls into their laps here and gives the crew a hope of keeping their jobs. I'm not sold on Shedeur, there's a lot to like but in my opinion a lot more that causes pause. That said, he will certainly sell jerseys in NYC.
4. New England Patriots - CB/WR Travis Hunter Colorado:
Yet another pick that I've been mocking for a while now, outside of a potential Shedeur to Cleveland move I feel like the top 4 are pretty set. I can understand people mocking an O-Lineman like Membou or Campbell here but I just don't think that's realistic. There are 3 sure fire, slam dunk, all-pro caliber talents in this draft (Carter, Hunter, and Ashton Jeanty). Jeanty plays a devalued position that will almost certainly drop his stock *a little*. My board, and I think most of America's, screams 2 QBs plus Carter and Hunter in some variation for this years top 4 picks. I understand that protecting Maye for the long-term is crucial but Hunter can take much needed pressure off of Maye in other ways. Not to mention, Membou and Campbell both have their questions while there are several capable OTs likely to be available at pick 38.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars - HB Ashton Jeanty Boise State:
Now for the first big surprise! Jacksonville has held their cards very close to their chest to this point, and they benefit from a lack of emergency needs. What is an emergency however, is Trevor Lawrence's overall shortage of capable playmakers. Despite the absence of a clear number 1 back during his time in Tampa, Liam Coen knows all too well how big a difference having a superstar at this position can make after benefiting from Todd Gurley's dominance of the league in 2018 with the Rams. This is Coen's chance to make a splash pick out of the gate and reinstall some vigor into an offense that went dormant last season. Funny enough, early RB picks often happen with slightly surprising teams, take the Falcons with Bijan after Allgeier's solid rookie year or The Rams taking Gurley after Mason made a splash for example. The Jags look more needy at WR or TE on paper but Travis Etienne has been unhealthy and ineffective for quite a while now and is entering a contract year. I'd be surprised if The Jags have long term plans for Etienne and just as surprised if they believe Bigsby can step into the role of a true number 1. Coen gets the top guy on his board even if it's at a position that's often overlooked.
*Note* This mock takes me forever and I had this pick 3 weeks ago, well before any of the news broke about The Jags interest in Jeanty. I had it first, I promise.
6. Las Vegas Raiders - DT Mason Graham Michigan:
This is another pick that makes way too much sense, in the event that Graham doesn't find himself sneaking into the top 10 The Raiders are a clear team to watch. First off, DT is one of the bigger needs on a roster full of holes. By obtaining Graham, Vegas can cement the D-Line as not only their biggest strength but as possibly the best group in the entire league. Playing next to Christian Wilkins and Maxx Crosby takes a ton of pressure of of Graham and will allow him to seamlessly grow into the NFL game. Next, we need to consider the decision makes here so let's talk about Tom Brady and Pete Carroll. Both Brady and Carroll value leadership in the lockerroom, a workman's mentality, and know how impactful building through the trenchs can be. This is exactly how Pete built The Seahawks and how the best teams Brady led were built. Again, Graham to LV makes too much sense. The only possible setback here is that I expect Vegas to be in the trade back market due to how many holes they still have, I just can't see anyone wanting to jump up this high.
7. New Orleans Saints - Edge Jalon Walker Georgia:
The Panthers and Jalon Walker seem like a match made in heaven. Walker is a great fit schematically, a much needed leader, and Carolina's interest is clearly documented. Nothing could go wrong with that slam dunk pick at #8 right? Wrong! Nothing is safe when a division rival is picking one spot behind you with a major need at the same position. While Walker to The Panthers feels like a perfect marriage, the fit is just as good in New Orleans. Kellen Moore may have left the City of Brotherly Love but his philosophy will mirror that of which brought him a super bowl ring: trenches first, and if it's a Georgia Bulldog even better. Moore's Saints take on an Eagles of the South approach here and get a player who will wreak havoc as a stand up rusher in Brandon Staley's scheme. Walker will be an instant star in NOLA and take over as the defense's leader once Cam Jordan finally opts out. I'd say giving up a 3rd and moving back in the 6th isn't a bad price to make that happen. As far as The Jets, they have a lot of needs and can get one of the players they'd be considering at 7 a few picks later at 9.
8. Arizona Cardinals - OT/G Armand Membou Missouri:
Another trade! Things could be so different if The Saints didn't come in at 7 and screw it all up. If that doesn't happen, we'd likely see Membou headed to The Jets at 7 and Walker to Carolina at 8 but in this case, Carolina gets pay back on New York ruining their pick by allowing Arizona to move up 8 spots and start the Tackle run. Carolina is a team in need of capital and they're able to add a 2nd round pick here. Arizona on the other hand, looks to be just a few pieces away after a very productive free agency. The Cardinals backfilled talent all over the defensive front giving Johnathan Gannon confidence in what he has to work with. Arizona's biggest weakness in 2024 however was their lackluster O-Line, which has yet to be addressed. Membou will come in and immediately start at Guard before replacing impending free agent Jonah Williams at RT next season. Membou is very young (21), technically impressive, and freakishly athletic (minus the lack of height), I fully expect him to climb boards and be the consensus #1 Tackle amongst scouts. *Note* Carolina comes dangerously close to reaching a bit and grabbing Jahdae Barron here at 8, a move I can totally see happening if Walker is in fact gone come draft day.
9. New York Jets - DL/Edge Shemar Stewart Texas A&M:
I mocked Stewart getting into the top 10 with The Jets a while back, moved off of it last time, but now I’m circling back only this time The Jets have documented interest in the form of 2 recent visits with the former Aggie edge. In my first mock, I simply went with this pick based off of fit. If anyone is going to unlock Stewart’s potential it’s Aaron Glenn and his aggressive hybrid defense. I believe Glenn will move Stewart around the front as he develops before eventually finding a full time home on the edge. Offense has some bigger needs and Glenn won’t ignore that (see them planning to take Membou before trading back above), but Stewart will be too good for New York to pass up. With a roster full of holes, the new regime needs to start fresh by getting the best talent they can find regardless of position and I expect them to be enamored with Stewart’s limitless potential. If The Jets do decide to go offense, Will Campbell and Tyler Warren are both very much in play here.
10. Chicago Bears - OT Will Campbell LSU:
If Campbell ends up in the right home, he'll find a coach that 100% believes in his ability manning the Left Tackle spot despite his lack of arm length, and Chicago with new Head Coach Ben Johnson is exactly that spot. Campbell is Johnson's preferred style of blocker: physical, aggressive, and an athletic people mover in the run game. Johnson and Company will work on Campbell's Pass Blocking consistency while running a scheme that can mask some of his current deficiencies. While adding an Edge Rusher will be on Chicago's to-do list, most of their early draft capital will likely go towards building up Ben Johnson's offensive arsenal. I could see them making a move for Jeanty, but if the cards fall in a way that Campbell shockingly drops out of the top 10 they'll run the card up. It's also worth mentioning that Tyler Warren could be an awesome fit here and there will without a doubt be debate about adding Warren if he's available at 10 regardless of who else in on the board. Campbell gets the nod here though as he's a perfect fit for this offense at one of the most premium positions in the game. We should see a much more confident Caleb Williams behind this fully retooled O-Line in 2025, as long as the new unit can gel quickly.
11. San Francisco 49ers - LB Jihaad Campbell Alabama:
The Niners are a tough one this year, they have no shortage of needs after getting absolutely picked apart in Free Agency. That laundry list of needs gives San Fran the feel of a team that would like to move back and stack draft capital, but frankly I don't see it. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch believe in their roster and I'm sure their excited to have a chance to pick this high and get an immediate game changer. This is their first chance at picking earlier than 31 since they absolutely woofed on Trey Lance. When it comes to getting a day 1 game changer, there are few prospects available who's ceilings exceed Jihaad Campbell's. Not only does Campbell come in and fill Dre Greenlaw's vacancy with even more versatility and athleticism, but he becomes an immediate factor on the Edge and possibly the next best rusher after Nick Bosa. Campbell is young and needs to polish his skills, but he's freakish enough to be a player that offenses must scheme for from day 1 and fits the bill as an upgrade on a playoff caliber team. With as many wholes as San Fran has, The Niners need to look for versatility which Campbell has in spades at a position that's crucial to Robert Saleh's defense.
12. Dallas Cowboys - WR Tetairoa McMillan Arizona:
Dallas has quite a few holes and there are several directions they could go here including trading back in an effort to add more capital. Jerry Jones will also be tempted to fill one of the aforementioned holes with one of the fantastic former Longhorns available here (Jahdae Barron, Kelvin Banks, Matthew Golden). That all said, I have a feeling The Cowboys will opt for the player who they'd expect to make the biggest difference immediately and that's McMillan. First off, Dallas drastically needs to add more weapons on offense and I believe they'll have adding to Dak's arsenal at priority 1. Secondly, I lean toward McMillan over Golden because of his unique physicality and jump ball capability. While Golden's speed would be a welcome site, McMillan should help limit the interception problems that have plagued Dak in the past.
13. Miami Dolphins - CB Will Johnson Michigan:
With a bevy of needs on defense and long-term solutions for protecting Tua high on their wish list, Miami will likely consider trading back here as well. I think there will be a short list of teams showing interest targeting Tyler Warren before Indy picks or Will Johnson with Atlanta sitting at 15. That said, Johnson is likely the highest rated player on Miami's board at a major position of need so they'll need to weigh the capital offered with the potential downgrade in talent by moving back. The Dolphins are very intrigued by Johnson's availability here and in this scenario, I'd expect them to stay put and grab the major upgrade at CB. Johnson and Jalen Ramsey will team up to quickly form a premier Corner tandem in the NFL taking pressure off of a defensive line that badly needs rebuilt, which will be addressed later.
14. Indianapolis Colts - TE Tyler Warren Penn State:
While it didn’t shake out that way this time, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see Warren go a good bit earlier than this pick. The Jets at 9 and Chicago at 10 are a pair of spots that would make a lot of sense. The common mock draft picks for Warren right now are New York at 7, which feels a tad early, and Indy here at 14 which feels a bit late. In any case, if Warren does happen to be available at 14 I’d expect this to be his absolute floor with an Indianapolis team that’s ecstatic to see him. Shane Steichen’s offense is looking for ways to support whoever their QB is in 2025 and no one in this draft will be as adept at providing that support as Warren. He’ll instantly become a high volume target underneath while adding a bit of blocking prowess on the outside.
15. Green Bay Packers - CB Jahdae Barron Texas:
When I go into these mocks I usually expect there to be somewhere around 3 to 6 first round trades. It all comes down to balance from the trade up team’s perspective: is the value of the player you’re getting worth what you’re giving up? For Green Bay, this spot feels perfect. The Pack have a very strong roster but perhaps their two main needs are both Cornerback (if Jaire Alexander does in fact move on). Once Will Johnson comes off of the board Green Bay will start evaluating their options to move up with DB needy teams sitting at 14-17 (Indy, Atl, Carolina, and Cincy). Luckily for Matt LaFleur’s team, they find a suitable trade partner in Atlanta and Indy decides to go Warren rather than Barron. Atlanta is going to be desperate for picks currently sitting at just 5 with plenty of needs to fill and will also be very interested in several players they can likely nab in the 20s. This creates the perfect storm for a win-now group like Green Bay to burn some less than crucial draft capital and deal their way into the top tier of CBs. Barron is an absolute perfect fit for this defense and as I mentioned earlier, he could have a chance to sneak into the top 10 if things play out right.
16. Carolina Panthers - Edge James Pearce Jr. Tennessee:
Sadly for The Panthers, they get leapfrogged via trade once again and miss out on the guy they planned on taking with this pick. That's okay, I'd expect that when they moved off of 8 they didn't plan on remaining in striking distance for Barron anyways. While there are quite a few needs on this team, something tells me that their going to prioritize retooling Ejiro Evero's defense, a scheme that emphasizes versatility and athleticism from it's Edge Rushers. Safety is also a huge need and I do believe both Nick Emmanwori and Malaki Starks are in play here, but Edge just feels more crucial to the operation. Carolina's GM and former LB Dan Morgan will see shades of a former hall of fame teammate of his in Pearce; Julius Peppers. While it's far from a perfect comp, Morgan knows first hand how much a team can benefit from game-breaking athleticism, speed, length, and motor which Pearce displays in Peppers like fashion. He's not a polished player but I believe they have enough talent to ease him along this season on his way to becoming an absolute terror outside. Similarly to Shemar Stewart, I expect pre-draft testing to help Pearce even more due to a lack of success/availability during the Pre-Draft process from guys like Mykel Williams and Mike Green, it surprises me that this isn't really talked about.
17. Cincinnati Bengals - Edge Mike Green Marshall:
It's no secret that The Bengals need upgrades all across their defense but that has to start with finally making a successful early draft pick at Edge Rusher. Cincy has struggled for quite some time drafting defense especially the rusher spot, failing to get a true complement for Trey Hendrickson. Mike Green stands a good chance of being the guy that can change that streak. As I mentioned, Green has had less availability when it comes to pre-draft testing compared to some of his counterparts in the class. The testing success of other ultra-athletic edges coupled with a slew of off the field concerns causes Green to drop a bit despite a solid limited pro day workout and a fantastic senior bowl. The Bengals saw what Green did not too far up the road against Ohio State this past year and have a good idea of the type of talent he can bring to the table. There are some concerns with Green, yes, but his tape suggests he could be the best day 1 rusher in the draft not named Abdul Carter. If Cincy decided that he secondary was a bigger issue to address, I could once again see Emmanwori here. We're getting close to Safety territory.
18. Seattle Seahawks - OT/G Kelvin Banks Jr. Texas:
Seattle is another team with documented interest in Nick Emmanwori and Mike Macdonald would use him perfectly here in Seattle, but GM John Schneider will have other plans after seeing Banks fall to this spot. Seattle will be surprised to see the former Longhorn last this long and I'd expect them to run the card to podium. The Seahawks can upgrade on defense sure, but they absolutely have to get better on the line if they want Sam Darnold to replicate the magic he had in Minnesota. While Banks is a bit more polished in the run game he'd be quite an upgrade at all facets in Seattle. The Seahawks may want to kick him inside for a year but I believe he'd be an improvement at RT from the start, one that should greatly help the confidence of Sam Darnold and this offense.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - S Nick Emmanwori South Carolina:
A lot of people are mocking The Bucs to take an Edge Rusher and I believe they'll be very tempted seeing Mykel Williams slide. That said, Tampa doesn't have a lot of picks in this draft but they do have several positions that absolutely need to be addressed: LB, DB, G. Edge is more of a nice to have at this point as The Bucs current group is fairly deep with a mix of young and veteran talent, including 2024 2nd Rounder Chris Braswell. Emmanwori would immediately bring an influx of versatility that Tampa’s defense is currently lacking and pair with Antoine Winfield to create one of the top safety tandems in the league. We’d likely see him move all around the second and third levels of the defense and while he mostly satisfies the need at Safety, his versatility can bring some relief to the Cornerback and Linebacker groups as well. Emmanwori is one of the most polarizing talents in this draft and just too good of a need filler for a team with the holes that Tampa has, he’s a great fit here. *Note* NDSU’s Grey Zabel could also be in play as an immediate upgrade to the interior offensive line.
20. Denver Broncos - HB Omarion Hampton UNC:
Denver has a really solid roster and not a ton of immediate needs outside of Running Back especially now that Evan Engram has been brought in at Tight End. I fully expect Sean Payton to address his Running Back group early but I doubt he'll force it if the right pick isn't there. Omarion Hampton is that right pick and Payton is a guy with a proven track record of taking HBs in the first when he sees fit. Hampton is a size-speed superstar with plenty of receiving talent and the ability to make defenders miss in space. He's a bit more of a downhill back at this point in his career but a world of opportunity can open up for him once he improves his vision. He has the qualities that Payton targets in a back and will be used very similarly to how Mark Ingram was in New Orleans with Jaleel McLaughlin still in town to spare him as more of a change of pace slasher. Hampton may go much earlier if he finds the right fit or if a team looks to hop past Denver, but at this point I view this as his absolute floor. If Hampton were to be gone here, I think it's much more likely that Denver waits for a guy like Kaleb Johnson or Cam Skattebo in the second or third and selects O-Lineman Grey Zabel or doubles down at TE with Colston Loveland at this pick.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers - QB Jaxson Dart Ole Miss:
Ideally, The Steelers would be able to slide back a few picks and gain some draft capital after the DK Metcalf trade has left them limited on resources for this year's draft. I do think there will be several suitors as teams look to move up for Colston Loveland, Josh Simmons, and/or Mykel Williams but I just don't see Omar Khan pulling the trigger. Similarly to the Kenny Pickett selection a few years back, The Steelers seem to believe they've found their long-term guy in Dart and they'd rather not take any chances on his selection if that is the case, especially with their QB-needy division rival Cleveland in striking distance with a potential move up from pick 33. There are other positions Pittsburgh could look to add young talent at but when you look at this roster I'd be very surprised if it isn't QB in round 1, even if Rodgers does end up in The Steel City. It's critical for Pittsburgh to end up with a long-term solution at QB to avoid repeating the Quarterback limbo that plagued them during the years between Terry Bradshaw and Big Ben.
22. Los Angeles Chargers - TE Colston Loveland Michigan:
It's funny, there have been several picks in a row that just feel like the right guy falling to the perfect team and we see that here again with Loveland to LA. Loveland is in a very unique situation, he can go much higher than this spot depending on how the cards fall. Even though both are game changers in different ways, I believe he’ll find himself going somewhere shortly after Tyler Warren due to the latter having a bit more of a complete game. That said, Loveland's spot could be as early as top 10 if Warren came off the board in that 5 to 7 range. Loveland is more of a Dalton Kincaid style receiver first TE which will make him a fantastic help for Justin Herbert and it wouldn’t surprise me if he had the second most receptions on the team in his first year. This is an offense starving for weapons and Jim Harbaugh will be thrilled to get another one of his former Wolverine leaders at a major position of need.
23. Atlanta Falcons - S Malaki Starks Georgia:
I went back and forth on this pick between two former Bulldogs that could've just as easily went to Atlanta if they stayed at 15: Starks and Edge Rusher Mykel Williams. I believe Williams will slide because of his sub-optimal testing numbers, while Starks could very easily climb draft boards dependent on Safety needs, that's what I see happening here with Atlanta. The Falcons desperately need an upgrade across from Jessie Bates after Justin Simmons' departure and Starks perfectly fits the bill. He'll be an instant starter at Safety while occasionally playing down in the slot for The Falcons. I'd expect him to mirror the success of last year's former bulldog safeties Tykee Smith and Javon Bullard, it's about time Atlanta gets in on that hometown pipeline.
24. Kansas City Chiefs - OT Josh Simmons Ohio State:
This is not a very Chiefs-like move but it is a very good move. The Chiefs don't have a ton of major needs but they absolutely have to get better on the offensive and defensive lines. They could likely stay put at 31 and have plenty of options to upgrade at OT, DT, or Edge but none of those options would be Josh Simmons. I walked into this draft fully expecting Simmons to get inside of the top 20 picks and to my surprise, and probably KC's, he didn't. I think Simmons is starting to rise, if he had a healthy 2024 he'd easily be in the argument for the draft's top Tackle but his Pro Day performance has inspired scouts looking forward to his return. Simmons is a true Left Tackle and could start day 1 for Kansas City if he returns to full health. If he's not ready, KC has done enough this offseason to get by at LT with Jaylon Moore in the meantime. True LTs are a dime a dozen and teams picking outside the top 20 don't often get a chance at a lineman of Simmons' caliber, KC has some draft capital to spare and will relish the opportunity to make this happen. For Minnesota, Malaki Starks coming off the board is a big blow. The Vikings are lacking in picks and their main needs don't need to be addressed quite so early, they'll take the opportunity to grab a day 2 pick and likely get the same player they'd target here a bit later.
25. Houston Texans - DT Walter Nolen Ole Miss:
I do believe The Texans are preparing to select Josh Simmons here if Kansas City doesn't secure the trade up. Despite missing out on their future LT, I don't think Houston will be too upset with this turn of events. The Texans seem primed to invest in Offense early in this draft but I think it's a bit overlooked just how badly they need to upgrade the interior of their defensive line. I doubt Houston is expecting Nolen to last until 25, he seems to be a fast riser after a terrific pro day despite some character concerns. The Texans weigh Nolen's level of talent against what is available on the O-Line here and decide to go with the Ole Miss product. He'll be a huge upgrade immediately on a Defensive Line that has to get more aggressive this season. Houston can upgrade their O-Line and add a weapon for C.J. Stroud on Day 2.
26. Philadelphia Eagles - Edge Mykel Williams Georgia:
Well will you look at that, once again Philly finds themselves drafting a defensive stud from the Georgia Bulldogs to increase the longevity of their stellar defense. It's funny to see them get bulldogs year after year but the pick makes sense for a lot more reasons than just their Athens of the North pipeline. First off, The Eagles as well as many other teams are going into this draft expecting to see Williams go inside the top 15. Howie Roseman plans to have no shot at the lengthy Edge Rusher, so of course he's excited to wheel and deal his way up a few picks once he drops out of the top 25. Williams was nagged by injuries in 2024 and hasn't really wowed with his pre-draft testing, you add those problems in with the fact that he's viewed a bit more developmental to begin with and you have the perfect recipe for a slide like this. Philly however, has enough resources on defense to bring him along slowly allowing him to sharpen his skills and get back to full health. The Eagles have also had a good bit of power in their pass rush in the past and have lost a good portion of that with some of their recent departures, Williams can bring an influx of power off the Edge with a strong bull rush.
27. Baltimore Ravens - DT Kenneth Grant Michigan:
Jim Harbaugh has spoke glowingly of Kenneth Grant every time he's given the chance, Grant would've probably been the pick at 22 if another former wolverine wasn't available there. Jim's glowing opinion of Grant is enough to rub off on John, who happens to be in the D-Lineman market. Baltimore could use a few pieces across their Defensive front and Grant can help out in multiple spots before settling in as their Nose Tackle long-term. Grant is a bit raw but he shows the ability to be a difference maker on all 3-downs with tremendous athleticism in a massive frame. He should probably be a top 20 pick, so should Walter Nolen but I see Defensive Tackles suffering a bit of a slide because of how deep the class is and a lack of any truly elite day 1 talent. That said, Grant has plenty of potential to develop into an elite level player long-term and he could anchor this Ravens D-Line for the foreseeable future.
28. Detroit Lions - OL Grey Zabel North Dakota State:
Grey Zabel is a Detroit Lion, that just feels right to say. He's the epitome of Brad Holmes' style of O-Lineman, he might not be an athletic freak but he's tough, strong, and a technician. Zabel has 5 position flexibility across the O-Line starting all of 2024 at LT. While I think his shorter arms likely force him inside for the long-term, he’ll start at a Guard spot day one and likely have a shot to slot in at RT after Taylor Decker eventually leaves and Penei Sewell kicks to the left side. I do think there's a lot of momentum and potential for Zabel to go much earlier than this spot, potentially even in the top 20. However, Interior O-Line and even OT both end up being devalued a bit in this mock as DBs and Edge Rusher have risen to dominate the teens. Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell are over the moon at the opportunity to grab Zabel at the back-end of Round 1 continuing to build through dominance in the trenches.
29. Washington Commanders - WR Matthew Golden Texas:
While The Commanders have shown some significant interest in the best OT available (Josh Conerly Jr. of Oregon), Golden is just too great of a value to pass up here. I think a lot of teams will consider him the best WR in the class making his potential ceiling as high as the top 10. Golden is at another position hurt by depth and a lack of a clear top star causing his slide to 29. Washington has a lot of places where they could improve but they’ve done a fantastic job of building a roster where no position is a 100% necessity. In this case, I have Adam Peters taking a similar approach to what The Bears did for Caleb Williams last year: The #1 Wide Out is already in place, swing a trade for a trusty veteran on a one year rental and draft your young QB’s future top target. Luckily for Peters, the price he pays to accomplish this is a lot lower on both fronts.
30. Buffalo Bills - CB Trey Amos Ole Miss:
This is a tough one for me, I think The Bills will have quite a bit of trade interest in this pick. There will be teams looking to jump up for Egbuka and/or Ezeiruaku but most importantly, I think you have teams like The Jets and The Saints interested in jumping Cleveland to take a shot at Jalen Milroe. That's right, I think there's an okay chance that Milroe crawls into the back end of the first due to the combination of Cleveland opening the second round and his suitors gaining that 5th year option (not to mention his insane 40 time). That all said, I think it will take a hefty price to get Buffalo to move off of this pick. They have plenty of draft capital and not a ton of needs, minus the glaring hole at Cornerback. I see The Bills staying put and taking the top CB on their board here, and I think they'll be pretty excited to find Amos at 30. He's starting to peak as a quick riser due to his fantastic physical attributes and versatility in both Man and Zone coverage. I do feel like 30 is a bit high for him personally, but I think there are teams picking in the 20s that will even consider him. Buffalo is hoping Amos gives them a long-term ball-hawking starter on the outside, I love the player but my only concern is how eerily similar this pick and player fit is to their former 1st round CB Kaiir Elam. We all know that pick never quite worked.
31. Minnesota Vikings - G Tyler Booker Alabama:
At one point this would've been considered a slide for Booker, now it may be considered a little rich for him, it's hard to say. Booker is an interesting prospect, he didn't test well at the combine and won't be viewed as an athlete with enormous potential but he will be seen as a player with an extremely high floor. A safe/lower upside player at an undervalued position like Guard usually screams second rounder but Booker makes a lot of sense in the late first if he finds the right fit and Minnesota is that team. The Vikings are a win now group with a young QB, that means they'll be looking to give him the best protection possible and lean on the run to bring McCarthy along slow. Booker would come in as an immediate upgrade at LG making him well worth the first round pick. Even if he does have below average athleticism, Booker leans on a blend of Power, Technique, and Smarts to get the job done. I know both McCarthy and Aaron Jones will be thankful to have the big man paving the way. As a bonus, Booker is a phenomenal leader which should pay big dividends for The Vikings in years to come.
32. New Orleans Saints - QB Jalen Milroe Alabama:
I foreshadowed it, didn't think it was gonna happen because I don't like teams trading multiple times in my mocks but here we are: The Saints trade up for their future QB1! I believe Milroe is gaining a lot of momentum heading into the draft, I know it seemed farfetched at a point but I believe there's a decent chance he finds his way into the back end of round 1. The Saints have done a great job of building a roster that's pretty solid the whole way through, they've been battling to keep their core intact for the last few years but it's all felt like spinning their wheels in mud due to the subpar QB situation. That changes with Kellen Moore, with the new regime comes new ideas and a real future for a team that's been stuck in limbo. Moore will see a lot of his former Quarterback Jalen Hurts in Milroe and fall in love with the traits. Milroe reminds me a lot of Hurts coming out and if he can be developed similarly, the dividends could be huge for NOLA. As far as The Rams are concerned, not picking in the first is nothing new. They have a great roster that could upgrade in a lot of spots, their lack of any desperation needs makes them dangerous, allowing them to stockpile picks in the mid rounds and take advantage of a bit of desperation on The Saints end. I believe they were considering the luxury of adding Matthew Golden at 26 and now Emeka Egbuka here, perhaps this pick saves them so that they can invest early in something they need a bit more. It's worth noting that I feel confident someone will end up with multiple 1st rounders this year, in this mock I have that right going to New Orleans.
