2024 Full 7-Round NFL Mock Draft

After month’s of research and trial runs, the draft is just about here and its time for my stab at predicting the entire thing. Every year, I take a shot at a full 7 round mock with my goal being to predict as many correct picks as possible. This mock will have plenty of trades, but I won’t be making any additional trades after Round 1. Things just become too unpredictable at that point.

If you want to view all of the picks for a certain team or even skip the commentary, I've added an easy to filter spreadsheet here: Full 7 Rd Mock Spreadsheet

This is my final mock of the 2024 season, but I will be putting out a final Round 1 addendum the day of the draft. Things are constantly changing leading up to the draft and the addendum allows me to adjust to all of the new info that comes out while finishing rounds 2-7 (Ex: This was completely finished right before the Zach Wilson trade, but that doesn't change much). A lot of time and research goes into this mock, so I hope you enjoy. Let’s get rippin’:

Round 1:

1. Chicago Bears - QB Caleb Williams USC:

I mentioned this last time, but I’ll say it again: Ryan Poles has built a fantastic roster to help out his young franchise QB. I’m not sold on Caleb Williams for a number of reasons but the arm talent and play making ability make him the only choice for this year’s top QB. Now, whether or not Williams will pan out is a different story but this is the only pick for The Bears to make at #1.

2. Washington Commanders - QB Drake Maye UNC:

I've been back and forth on this pick, now more than ever. It feels like there could actually be three QBs in play here: Maye, Daniels, and McCarthy. Late March and Early April have a way of throwing a lot of smoke at you before the draft and in my gut, it feels like that's what's happening here. Maye has such high upside and would be a dream fit in Kliff Kingsbury's offense. His issues are the same types of problems that Dan Quinn has become accustomed to coaching the defense that's been aiding Dak Prescott. Quinn will like the traits that Maye displays, it will bring an offensive style that he's familiar with and he's confident game planning his aggressive defense around. Maye's been the #2 guy from the get-go, Daniels became that Heisman riser and McCarthy is this year's draft process darling but I'm expecting Washington to avoid over-thinking it here. When you put on the tape, Maye's upside is in a whole different arena than what you see from McCarthy and even Daniels.

3. New England Patriots - QB Jayden Daniels LSU:

If you've been reading my mock drafts, you'd know that I believe Jayden Daniels is New England's guy. Once again, I see them being able to hang tight and grab Daniels at 3. This pick is the big consequence of Washington's choice at #2, as I could see The Patriots surprising us if Daniels happens to be gone. There is potential for them to go McCarthy if they aren't sold on Maye but I'd be less surprised to see them either trade back or grab Marvin Harrison Jr. here with hopes to grab Penix or Nix at 34 (or via trade up). Jerod Mayo knows the importance of starting his tenure with a long term QB1 in the building but they have the best current situation of the top 3 teams. This means there's less desperation and New England won't be forced to grab a guy at #3 that they aren't quite sold on. I could see Daniels sitting a whole year behind Jacoby Brissett and getting the refinement necessary to hit the ground running in year 2.

4. Arizona Cardinals - WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Ohio State:

I'm not buying the "interest" Arizona reportedly has in moving back, here's why: Arizona has a whopping 6 picks on days 1 and 2, including another 1st rounder. There's not really a need here to stock picks, and while the roster is spotty and in need of several upgrades, WR is the only absolute hole that Arizona cannot go into week 1 with. Now, if you watch the tape on the top 3 guys in this class at WR, I think it's very clear who's going to have the biggest impact on day 1. Harrison looks like an immediate WR1 and a much better fit for Kyler's style than any WR1 he's had prior (Not necessarily better player, but better fit). Odunze and Nabers will find success quickly, but the tape doesn't indicate that their necessarily in that tier of immediate dominance with MHJ. We have a tendency to listen to chatter and get swayed by pre-draft stories that certain guys have usurped the original #1, and while we've seen this prove true in certain cases over the years, I'm not buying it once again here. Much like Maye, the hype on Harrison was so high during the entire 2023 NCAA season that it was bound to drop off as we approach the draft. Scouts and Front Offices don't get paid by reading tabloids and paying heavily for pre-draft workout hype. Arizona knows who the biggest day 1 impact player is in this draft and they're going to grab him at 4.

Pick 5 TRADE Los Angeles Chargers to Minnesota Vikings

Vikings get #5 and a 2025 3rd - Chargers get #11, #23, a 4th Rounder (#129), and a 2025 7th (from Pit)

5. Minnesota Vikings - QB J.J. McCarthy Michigan:

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve had a pair of mocks repeating the first 5 picks, but I just can’t see this going any other way. This time, the price increases a little bit but the situation is essentially the same. Minnesota needs to move into the top 5 to guarantee McCarthy with The Giants picking at 6. I expect Arizona to be reluctant to move back from 4 but LA is the perfect trading partner here at 5. The Chargers desperately need to stack picks after this year’s massive overhaul and Jim Harbaugh will welcome the addition of another 1st round pick to start off his new roster in LA. Minnesota has one goal for this draft, get the long-term QB1. This is The Vikings best bet to keep Jefferson in town and build on this talented young nucleus.

Pick 6 TRADE New York Giants to Chicago Bears

Bears get #6, a 6th Rounder (#183), and a 2025 4th - Giants get #9, a 4th Rounder (#122), and a 2025 2nd

6. Chicago Bears - Edge Dallas Turner Alabama:

I've struggled for a while with the idea that the first defender doesn't go off the board until 8 or 9, it's always seemed far fetched but I've finally convinced myself it isn't true. Chicago has one major need after grabbing Williams at 1, and it's Edge. They follow the winning formula laid out by Houston last year and grab their franchise QB with one pick before moving back up and grabbing the draft's best Edge with the other. Most people believe Joe Alt is locked in for Tennessee at 7 but I think there's a possibility for Edge there (whether from Tennessee, who does have a major need on the outside, or someone else moving up) and for Atlanta at 8. That could leave Chicago as the odd man out. Sure, a top WR would be a cool addition but Pace has already built a hell of a receiving core. Anything other than Edge at their second pick feels like a let down. The options available at their next pick (75) have a tremendous talent gap from Turner, while the receiving options in the 3rd will still be very good. Brenden Rice anyone?

As for New York, while the price isn't huge this trade fills a big need. The Giants receive the fire power (An additional 2025 2nd), to ensure they get a franchise QB next year if Jones doesn't return to form. The Giants have a lot of spots that could benefit from upgrading so moving up on day three could also be quite beneficial. That all said, New York still has a solid chance at grabbing a top Wide Out at 9 if that's the upgrade they were leaning toward at 6.

7. Tennessee Titans - OT Joe Alt Notre Dame:

This is a tough one, again, I think if Dallas Turner is on the board he may be in play here. Turner seems to be the clear #1 Edge and while Verse is the clear #2, I think the gap may be bigger than some would think. Tennessee will likely want to move back a bit here to grab some more picks but I believe that the board will have most teams wanting to stay put. The positions that Tennessee would consider here, OL and Edge, would both have solid options if The Titans were able to move back to the mid to late teens but I think the price will be too steep for any of those teams to make the jump up. If Tennessee is indeed unable to move back, they'll grab the best need filler available here in Alt. I don't think this is a pick that Brian Callahan would be unhappy with, but the need for more picks in his first draft as Head Coach is very real.

8. Atlanta Falcons - WR Malik Nabers LSU:

Despite popular belief, when I look at the Falcons' roster I see one glaring need and it isn't Edge; it's receiver. The Falcons took a chance on chronic underachievers, Rondale Moore and Darnell Mooney, to add to an already underachieving receiving corp. The probability of one of these lackluster options having a breakout year increases immensely with the addition of a true #1 that Kirk Cousins can lean on and Nabers would be that in Atlanta. Sure, there are lots of spots that need upgraded defensively but Raheem Morris has done much more with much less as recently as last season in LA. Terry Fontenot loves to gamble on A+ offensive talents in the first round and new OC Zac Robinson is used to having top tier weapons at WR, this is a perfect match as top need meets top value.

9. New York Giants - WR Rome Odunze Washington:

The Giants are able to slide back three spots and still get one of the big three WRs at 9. This situation works out perfectly for The Giants. As Chicago needs to move up to lock down their guy, New York can slide back with the expectation that they still stand a great chance of getting one of their top wideouts if they stay inside the top 10. I believe The Giants will also have interest in Byron Murphy and Quinyon Mitchell, one more trade-back would be a strong possibility if WRs went at picks 7 and 8.

Pick 10 TRADE New York Jets to Los Angeles Rams

Rams get #10 and a 7th Rounder (#256) - Jets get #19, a 3rd Rounder (#83), and a 5th Rounder (#155)

10. Los Angeles Rams - Edge Jared Verse FSU:

I think this is the right move for both teams here. The Jets will be looking at pass catching options in the first round, I think they'd flirt with the idea of moving up for a top guy but the desperation isn't quite there. They're a team in win now mode that's lacking picks in the middle rounds. I believe New York has two receiving options in mind at this point and has little doubt that they'd get the second option if the first happens to be gone at 19. In this case, they feel pretty safe moving back a bit and banking some much needed capital in the middle rounds.

The Rams have a sneaky solid roster this year, but there's no doubt that they'll need to find ways to ramp up the pressure in their first season post Aaron Donald. While many like the thought of grabbing an IDL like Byron Murphy, I believe that Kobie Turner's skills on the inside are enough to have McVay's crew preferring Edge in the 1st round. Les Snead is no stranger to moving draft picks and he has a lot of capital to work with for the first time in a while, so I expect some type of move. L.A. typically values players that can contribute right away and there's really only two Edge defenders left who are safe bets for immediate star-level production, Verse and Laiatu Latu. Latu has a major injury flag, likely pushing him out of the 1st round in this draft. That leads to a very high value for Verse at 10 and I have a hard time seeing LA passing this opportunity up.

11. Los Angeles Chargers - TE Brock Bowers Georgia:

This pick just makes too much sense at 11. Harbaugh and Company start the draft by banking several picks that'll be crucial to their rebuild. Then, they find Justin Herbert's long-term #1 target here at 11. The Jets do Harbaugh a huge favor in moving back as Bowers is likely their pick at 10 if they stay put. TE doesn't feel like the biggest need with the additions of Will Dissly and Hayden Hurst, but it can still benefit from an upgrade. It's better to think of this pick as a "Pass Catcher", that's what I expect them to be doing in LA. Bowers will line up in a variety of spots and provide Herbert with a flexible weapon, expect him to be used in ways similar to how Travis Kelce is in KC. There's no secret that TE is a focal point in a Jim Harbaugh offense, The Chargers would love to grab a generational talent like Bowers to take that role to the next level. They've added enough picks later on to address a variety of needs on days 1 and 2.

12. Denver Broncos - QB Bo Nix Oregon:

There's no secret here, this draft is "QB or bust" for Denver as the Broncos would be leaning on Jarrett Stidham if the season started today. I think this is a little early for Nix and The Broncos would much prefer to slide back and gain some more picks. The unfortunate truth is that with Vegas picking at 13, Denver would risk losing their preferred QB to a division rival if they traded back. The Broncos are going to elected to stay put here and lock down Nix even if it feels like a lost opportunity to grab much needed draft capital. A more positive truth is that this roster doesn't have any major holes and missing out on the additional picks isn't the end of the world. There are upgrades to be had at several spots, but Denver will address those in the middle rounds.

13. Las Vegas Raiders - OT Taliese Fuaga Oregon State:

The Raiders know at this point that there's a rather high chance they'll be playing the season with a hole at franchise QB while Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell man the helm. I'm sure there's QBs Vegas would love to end up with but I believe Antonio Pierce is confident he can win with the current roster and would rather not overpay. In that case, Vegas would be smart to fill holes on their Offensive Line not only in an effort to win now but to also build a more stable foundation for that future franchise QB once he's eventually found. The Raiders will be pleasantly surprised to see Fuaga last to 13 rather than going to their divisional counterpart at 11. His aggressive style will instantly upgrade the Right Tackle spot in LV and set the tone for the style of offense The Raiders want to play. I think they'd have a high interest in JC Latham and/or Amarius Mims here as well, so trading back wouldn't be out of the question. That said, I think most of the interest to move up at this point is coming from the 20s and that's a bit far for The Raiders to feel confident they'd get one of their guys.

14. New Orleans Saints - OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu PSU:

In light of the recent news surrounding star RT Ryan Ramczyk, The Saints are now in a position where getting the best O-Lineman available is an absolute necessity. In addition to looking for a potential Ramczyk replacement, New Orleans could use upgrades at both LT and LG. Fashanu should immediately step in on the left side allowing New Orleans to see if former 1st round pick Trevor Penning's play improves on the right. I'd expect New Orleans to seriously consider another O-Line addition in round 2 but long time starter Andrus Peat is still available to be resigned and step in at LG or either tackle spot. This pick is a necessity at this point, the only question is which OT will New Orleans chose.

15. Indianapolis Colts - CB Terrion Arnold Alabama:

There's a set of people who believe draft season darling Quinyon Mitchell has surpassed Terrion Arnold as the consensus #1 Corner in this draft, but I think they're wrong. While there will be some teams that prefer Mitchell, I expect the majority to trust Arnold's tape and highly tested track record. Both Arnold and Mitchell possess the physicality necessary to play outside in Gus Bradley's defense, so Indy really can't go wrong here. Arnold would make a fantastic pairing with last year's 2nd round pick JuJu Brents and fill the only glaring need on Indy's well constructed roster.

Pick 16 TRADE Seattle Seahawks to Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles get #16 and a 4th Rounder (#118) - Seahawks get #22, a 2nd Rounder (#53), and a 5th Rounder (#171)

16. Philadelphia Eagles - Edge Chop Robinson PSU:

As soon as people scroll down to see this trade, I know everyone's going to immediately think Quinyon Mitchell but that just isn't Howie Roseman's style. The Eagles have thrived in recent years because of their commitment to continually add young players in the trenches, specifically on defense. While CB makes sense on paper, as would an O-Lineman, Edge is now a bit of a need with Reddick's departure. Huff and Sweat are slated to be leaned on far more than they have been throughout their careers, Brandon Graham is in his final stretch, and Nolan Smith is still a bit of an unknown. Philly needs to keep this rotation deep and adding a talented athlete from their own back yard like Robinson makes a ton of sense. Long-term Robinson, Huff, and Smith should develop into a fantastic three-headed monster on the outside. While giving up a 2nd round pick is painful, Philly still has plenty of capital to retool in later rounds despite having very few needs on their replenished roster. Much like what we've seen with Verse, Robinson's stock is going to rise due to the lack of depth in this draft for immediate contributors at Edge as well as the injury issues that push another talented option back in Latu. Robinson is the last 1st round lock at a premium position and Philly will be willing to move up to lock him down. For Seattle, the player they're targeting doesn't need to go quite yet (more on that later) and they could really use the 2nd for some upgrading in the trenches.

Pick 17 TRADE Jacksonville Jaguars to Green Bay Packers

Packers get #17 and a 2025 6th Rounder - Jaguars get #25, a 3rd Rounder (#88), and a 2025 3rd Rounder

17. Green Bay Packers - OT Troy Fautanu Washington:

In my last mock, I mentioned Green Bay as a team that I expect to move up in the first round. The Packers have 5 picks throughout the first two days with very few holes in need of filling. The only major hole is the need for an uber-talented blindside blocker to fill the shoes of former All-Pro David Bakhtiari and that's why I see Green Bay moving for a top talent. Due to his slightly smaller stature, some teams will project Fautanu for a move inside while others will believe in his abilities at Left Tackle but all will have him ranked as a top lineman in this draft. Green Bay has seemed to prefer Tackles of a smaller stature in the past as both Bakhtiari and current RT Zach Tom display similar size to Fautanu's. He'll take over on the blind side on day 1. For Jacksonville, with Chop off the board I’d expect The Jags to be set on CB here. While Mitchell will be universally accepted as the top DB on the board, I believe The Jags would be targeting Wiggins if forced to stay put. Wiggins is a perfect scheme fit in Duval. The plethora of corners available allows Jacksonville to feel comfortable sliding back and grabbing some additional capital.

18. Cincinnati Bengals - DT Byron Murphy II Texas:

Last year, Cincy surprised a lot of people by investing in the defensive front at the end of the first round when Clemson star Myles Murphy was surprisingly still available. This year, I could see them doing something similar with another talented Murphy on the inside. The Benglas' D-Line has been a strength during their recent success but losing DJ Reader is a big hit and Sheldon Rankins won’t be a long-term fix. While Murphy is a different style of player, I think most teams see him going in the top 15 and Cincy will love the value at 18. There are two other ways this pick could go however, The Bengals could opt for JC Latham as a long-term RT fix or take Brian Thomas Jr. as the successor to Tee Higgins. Both options make a lot of sense on paper but The Bengals have been reluctant to invest in O-Lineman this early and this is the best their line has looked in years. I think they believe in Trent Brown and Cordell Volson enough to look to add OL in day 2. As far as WR, the sentiment coming from Cincy has always seemed to be that they believe they can work things out with Higgins. Therefore, at the very least I see this situation dragging out until training camp if they don’t get something done. With that in mind, I don’t see them going wideout this high either. A sleeper move to note, I flirted with the idea of a trade package to The Giants, containing Higgins, to move up and grab Nabers at 9 if he would’ve been available. Moving Higgins on draft day makes a lot of sense if WR is where The Bengals are heading in the 1st round.

19. New York Jets - WR Xavier Worthy Texas:

This is the first huge surprise of the mock but when we analyze Worthy's situation, this makes a lot of sense. In past draft's, the moment Worthy runs that 4.21 he's elevated to a top 10 pick. People mistakenly think that Worthy is an unpolished, traits prospect but that's not the case. He had a very productive collegiate career obtaining All Big-12 honors every year and being named 1st team twice. He's produced 60+ catches and over 750 yards every season while consistently shining as a top explosive playmaker throughout the FBS. Much like John Ross, the frame will produce some durability concerns but teams that need an influx of big play potential will know exactly what they're getting. To think that Ross' 40 pushed him inside the top 10 but Worthy's won't get him in the top 20 seems like a gross oversight. The Jets need an explosive playmaker to fill the role originally intended for Mecole Hardman last year. They can design 5 or so touches for Worthy with another 3 or 4 deep shots per game and it will drastically take the pressure off of Rodgers' star playmakers Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall. This is the exact win now move that The Jets need and it wouldn't have completely shocked me seeing it happen at 10.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers - WR Brian Thomas Jr. LSU:

The departure of Diontae Johnson has left a big hole in the receiving corp for Pittsburgh. The Steelers love Size/Speed prospects and will absolutely want what Thomas brings to the table. While he lacks the route running polish that Johnson often displayed, his inside/outside versatility and ability to separate with speed and release should make him a perfect #2 for George Pickens. Thomas will be a day 1 star in Pittsburgh at a position they love to address in the draft. Many fans want to see Quinyon Mitchell if he's available here but WR feels like a bit larger of a need and The Steelers hate drafting CBs in the 1st round (not that WR is a typical 1st round pick for them either). I think Mitchell will slide a bit due to the level of competition he played against at Toledo and the other highly capable talents available (Wiggins, DeJean, and McKinstry). While a lot of people also expect O-Line to be a focus here, the needs at WR and CB are just too big. If Pittsburgh believes that they're a contender, they're going to need to get out of their comfort zone and grab one of those flashier positions. If Thomas is gone before 20, I think they may still consider Adonai Mitchell over Quinyon here.

21. Miami Dolphins - OL Graham Barton Duke:

I've had this pick in several mocks and it really feels like one of those perfect picks. There's only two players I could see going this high with 5 position flexibility on the O-Line, Barton and Fautanu. Last time, Fautanu was still available so I had Miami moving back and landing Barton, I think he's the better fit in Miami's offense. Barton will immediately start at either Center or Right Guard, but I could see him ending up in either Tackle spot long-term. He's the perfect player for a team with a variety of holes across the O-Line which is just what The Dolphins are dealing with. I have a hard time seeing any other player ending up in Miami in the 1st unless Chop Robinson has hung around.

Pick 22 TRADE Seattle Seahawks to Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals get #22 and a 2nd Rounder (#53) - Seahawks get #27, a 2nd Rounder (#35), and a 2025 5th Rounder

22. Arizona Cardinals - CB Quinyon Mitchell Toledo:

Finally, Quinyon Mitchell's slide ends at 22 via a rare inter-division trade. While I believe the new Cardinal regime will look to build in the trenches first going forward, Arizona desperately needs help in the secondary. Mitchell is both a huge need filler and a tremendous value at this pick. After Pittsburgh let's Mitchell pass them by, I expect a slew of teams to look for a move up ahead of LA at 23 and Jacksonville at 25. Arizona is able to win this sweepstakes by helping their division rival grab their long-term franchise QB. Other than that consequence, the price isn't too bad. I've made it no secret that I believe Seattle will be targeting Michael Penix Jr. after hiring Ryan Grubb at OC. This trade gives them the option to make the move at 27 or grab him at 35 if another need filler is available in the 1st. Due to Penix's injury history, The Seahawks will want to lessen his price and this trade is doing just that. However, if they do wait until 35 there's still a risk of Vegas getting back ahead of them. We'll see how the race for the last big time QB plays out.

23. Los Angeles Chargers - CB Cooper DeJean Iowa:

This is another redo from my last mock, DeJean to The Chargers makes sense on so many levels. There’s a stigma about DeJean not being able to play on the outside at the next level. He needs to go to a team that values the eye test over everything else. The tape doesn’t lie, DeJean is a phenomenal football player and a top flight corner in this draft. No one knows this better than DeJean’s former Big 10 rivals Jim Harbaugh and new Chargers DC Jesse Minter. Add that to the fact that DeJean fits the exact mold of CB that thrived during this regime’s time at Michigan. I think DeJean succeeds on the outside in LA but he’d be a day 1 upgrade in the slot as well.

24. Dallas Cowboys - OT Tyler Guyton Oklahoma:

While The Cowboys have plenty of holes to fill following a completely dormant free agency, it remains clear that adding to the O-Line is an absolute must. After the departure of Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz, The Cowboys have a massive hole at Center, a hole at either LT or LG depending on where Tyler Smith ends up, and could still use a big upgrade at RT. I believe Dallas would like to keep Tyler Smith inside as he’s been thriving at Guard. Therefore, this team needs a starter at both Tackle spots and Guyton has the ability to thrive on either side. The surprise here is Dallas opting for Guyton over Latham or Mims. Latham feels like a one-sided prospect likely lacking the athleticism and setting ability to play on the blindside which is the bigger need. Mims, on the other hand, is a very similar prospect to Guyton. Both are gigantic, easy movers with the flexibility to play each side. They also have a small sample size and will be looked at as higher risk than some of the other options, but at the highest potential reward for the entire class. So why Guyton? Dallas will feel pretty comfortable with Guyton as he’s from their own backyard. Prior to starring at local juggernaut Oklahoma, he played at the even more local TCU after high school in Manor, Texas. If you’re taking a risk/reward prospect who you’d lean on starting in year 1, you want to have done your homework. Dallas has all the tools at their disposal to get comfortable with Guyton and likely will be. They opt for the local talent and likely get their starting LT for years to come.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars - CB Nate Wiggins Clemson:

There will be trade up interest here from teams targeting Mims/Latham at OT or Adonai Mitchell at WR, but Jacksonville took the risk of losing Wiggins once and feels lucky to see him here at 25 after the mini CB run at 22 and 23. Wiggins uses his blazing speed, burst, and ball-hawking skills to be a QBs worst nightmare from zone coverage, especially in cover 3. These traits make him the best fit in Jacksonville, he has the ability to provide outstanding ball production taking The Jags defense to the next level.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - OT JC Latham Alabama:

What Tampa really needs here is to find a solution at LG and while Latham is a bit bigger than what they like in their Guards, he’s far too good of a value here to pass up. This draft is loaded with talented Tackle prospects and Latham could easily go way higher. Basically, any Tackle selection to this point could've just as easily been Latham, even as high as 7. I see him sliding a bit due to one thing: versatility. While Latham can move inside as a mauling Guard, he’s likely limited to the right side at Tackle in the NFL due to a lack of athleticism that inhibits his ability to set the pocket. His skill set is one that teams typically don’t prefer on the “blind side”. Latham will come in and compete with Luke Goedeke for the RT spot this offseason. Goedeke had a rough rookie when forced to man that LG spot in 2022 before kicking outside to RT in '23 and showing massive improvement. I think the preference here will be to keep Goedeke outside and slot Latham in at Guard, but The Bucs would be stupid not to let them compete. I think Goedeke's development would translate to Guard as well if he lost the battle with Latham to stay outside.

27. Seattle Seahawks - QB Michael Penix Jr. Washington:

I've been saying this every mock draft, but I truly believe Seattle will have Penix as a top priority come draft day. Geno's play has dropped off and I believe Sam Howell is looked at as a top tier backup with starting potential if things go south by The Seahawks brass. It only makes sense for Mike Macdonald to want to build a team around a young franchise QB to start his career, a situation where Geno is the long-term plan is not something I could see a young Head Coach being happy walking into. Macdonald hired Ryan Grubb, the OC who unlocked Penix's potential at UW, to be his Offensive Coordinator rather quickly after joining Seattle. This is definitely a win with the fan base because of The Huskies success last season, but I can't help but believe it signals something more. Grubb had a ridiculous amount of success at Washington with Penix as his QB, why wouldn't he want to bring him to Seattle? Penix would be a top 15 pick if it wasn't for the massive injury flag surrounding him from his days at Indiana, and may even end up much higher than this if a team or two is undeterred by the injuries. Seattle is that exact team, if they wouldn't have had the great offers at 16 and 22 they would've felt fine grabbing Penix with their original pick. Knowing that many teams are fearful of the injury history, The Hawks could be tempted to grab Jer'Zhan Newton here and get Penix at 35. After moving back twice with Penix in mind and LV picking only 9 slots later, I think that's just too high of a risk. Macdonald and Grubb will be happy having Penix as their long-term guy and he can learn a lot from being in the same QB room as experienced starters Geno and Howell.

28. Buffalo Bills - WR Adonai Mitchell Texas:

After Thomas and Worthy go at 19 and 20, I think there will be quite a few teams looking to move up for Mitchell. The WR needy contenders (Buf, KC, and Det) will all be looking at their options to move up and lock him down, but trade down interest drastically drops off after pick 20. Buffalo is elated to see Mitchell last to them at 28, they're in a year where retooling is a must and they don't have enough draft capital to satisfy the bounty of needs they're coming in with. That said, I think The Bills know they have to get a WR in round 1 or 2 but are limited by their lack of capital making the potential of missing out on a top weapon very real. The drop off from Mitchell feels fairly steep, I believe he's the last 1st round lock at wide out and there will be some desperation from those aforementioned contenders to get him. In this situation, The Bills are the lucky one's walking out of day 1 with a potential long-term WR1 for Josh Allen.

Pick 29 TRADE Detroit Lions to Washington Commanders

Commanders get #29 - Lions get a 2nd Rounder (#36) and a 3rd Rounder (#78)

29. Washington Commanders - OT Amarius Mims Georgia:

This is another perfect trade for both sides. Washington has a bounty of picks on day 2 and they aren’t desperate at any position. They could use upgrading across the O-Line for their new franchise QB both in 2024 and for the future. Mims is another huge steal this late in the draft, his potential is through the roof and should provide a top tier bookend for the majority of Drake Maye’s career. Washington is also a near perfect landing spot for Mims as that lack of desperation can afford The Commanders the ability to develop him at the correct pace. Mims should thrive over time in Washington and may even be an immediate upgrade this season. The Commanders don’t mind giving up a 3rd round pick to lock down a guy with potentially the most high upside in the entire draft. For The Lions, it hurts to miss out on Adonai Mitchell but adding the extra day 2 pick softens the blow. Detroit would likely be considering both Kool-Aid McKinstry and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. here, and they’d feel pretty confident in their ability to still grab one of the two at 36. With 4 picks on day 2, Detroit should be able to fill the majority of their needs before the late rounds.

30. Baltimore Ravens - OT/G Jordan Morgan Arizona:

I’ve been back and forth on The Ravens throughout my mocks. Baltimore loves building through defense but having a skilled O-Line has been so important to their success. While good mid to late round drafting has left them with a variety of young talents capable of stepping into starting roles in 2024, their O-Line is very spotty and in need of upgrading at both Guard spots as well as RT. It’s also worth mentioning that LT Ronnie Stanley has never played a full season in his entire career and is entering his age 30 season. Stanley has averaged less than 8 games a year for the past 4 years and is the final year of his contract. Morgan is a very experienced multi-year starting LT with the traits and athleticism to play RT and/or Guard if needed. He’s most definitely an upgrade at either Guard spot or RT as a rookie and has the tools to become Stanley’s long-term replacement on the blind side. Morgan is a rare prospect with exceptional experience that still shows a high upside as his technique can be cleaned up. This pick makes too much sense for Baltimore here, Lamar will be thankful.

31. San Francisco 49ers - CB Kool-Aid McKinstry Alabama:

Unfortunately for Purdy and Company, The Niners end up as the odd man out of the OT race. While there are still some talents worth considering on the O-Line here (Powers-Johnson, Suamataia, Paul, etc.), it feels like San Fran is better off waiting until the 2nd to grab any of the remaining O-Lineman. Despite the compelling need, John Lynch is not one to reach and he'll believe in his current roster enough to not get desperate. While The Niners secondary outplayed expectations last year, it’s still a group that could benefit from upgrading. It’s also worth noting that San Fran’s top 3 Corners are all set for their contracts to expire after the season. This makes CB a pretty large need and McKinstry is going to be the consensus best available to do the job. Kool-Aid is an immediate upgrade across from Charvarius Ward and should help San Fran’s dominant defense become more disruptive on the back end.

32. Kansas City Chiefs - DT Jer’Zhan Newton Illinois:

On paper, it looks like the defending champs could really benefit from retooling at a few spots on offense. WR goes right back to a weakness due to Rashee Rice’s current situation and LT is in a state of flux with last year’s 3rd round pick Wanya Morris slated to start. Both of these positions have been fairly picked over but I think this draft actually works out great for KC. The Chiefs don’t typically take WR in the 1st, but they love grabbing them on day 2 so I expect that to be the approach here with plenty of 2nd/3rd round talents still available. It also looks as though they’re content with Morris’ development on the blind side and I think they plan on giving him a shot. I’d still expect them to bring in a veteran OT after the draft for depth or to grab someone in the middle rounds. I believe that if you got KC insiders to open up, they’d tell you that upgrading the defensive front is a top priority. Specifically, if you look at DT, Chris Jones’ running mates have never been a major strength. Current starter Derrick Nnadi has had average production over his career, is now 27, and will join fellow DTs Mike Pennel and Tershawn Wharton as free agents after the 2024 season. Newton will upgrade the slot next to Chris Jones immediately and give KC flexibility come contract time next season. The tandem of Newton and Jones is scary and should take KC’s defense to the next level. I believe he gets drafted much earlier if an end of season foot injury didn’t stall out his pre-draft process.
